One Union Square
Every time I set out to photograph the Lower East Side I begin one block south of Union Square. In 1994 the entire block between 13th and 14th Street and Broadway and Fourth Avenue was developed and I documented this . In 2008 a hotel is being built at the corner of 13th Street and Fourth Avenue. It is going slowly. The financing may have disappeared, leaving nothing but a scaffold and a gaping hole.
